Flute Workshop.. Southern Scotland

Hi,

Apologies to those of you too far away to come, but for those closer, ..I’ve organised a weekend workshop with Sylvain Barou..29th and 30th jan, max group size is 15 at Wiston Lodge, near Biggar, in southern Scotland. There are still a couple of places left if anyone is interested. cost is £65 for the two workshops..one on the Sat and one on Sunday, accommodation/food is available at the venue (£34 for dinner, B and B and lunch..ie start Sat afternoon stay Sat night through to Sun early afternoon)..if interested, please reply to this thread/post and I’ll try and I’ll get back to you..first come first served..I’ll be looking for a £30 deposit for the workshops, ( I’m personally covering costs, and at 13 people I break even..if I get the max of 15 then I’ve agreed with Sylvain that he will get the extra) and can arrange accommodation etc with the venue once I know numbers who want to stay over..

..cheers and happy fluting..

Tom

Hey Biggar Tom!

Sounds great - see you there. Look forward to hearing who to pay deposits to… and to staying at Wiston Lodge again.

P

sounds great Tom —sent you a p.m and keen to come along if places

ian

Tom - you say you have a “couple” of places left, and have had 2 responses above. Does that mean that that your 15 places have now been filled ?

Hey Kenny -

Are you thinking of coming down? It would be great to see you again…

Starting to feel like the Scottish Flute mafia gathering!!!

Pamela

PS I was already booked…

I’d be interested in attending. I’ve been playing a year now and think that it’s about time I started to play with other people. I’ve never actually been to a flute workshop though so am not really sure what happens at them. (Does it involve work and shopping? And if not then why is it called a workshop?)

I’d be coming down from Crieff.

i’ll be on a business trip in South America, so i can’t be there, but thanks for the announcement; i just found Sylvain Barou’s myspace page–there’s some nice fluting on there.

good luck with the workshop.

cheers,
eric

Another couple of questions. What’s the required skill level for attending? What instruments are people expected to bring along?

…would it be too facetious to say, a flute?

I like you’re out-of-the-box thinking.

Crazy, but it might just work.

Hi, Thanks for the interest and replies to the post. With regard to level of ability, and what Sylvain will be offering, I have just received a facebook message from him saying that he generally caters for a broad range of ability, and covers

" I usually cover many technical aspects, from embouchure/tone to ornamentation, breathing, styles, etc…so everybody should find something interesting!".

.so
hopefully that answers a couple of questions
..regarding instruments… 'twill be mostly wooden flutes…but no reason why not for Boehm

I’d be grateful if those wishing tocome can now communicate via email as it’s getting a bit awkward negotiating between email, facebook and, and chiff..

I have a list of all whohave said they’d like to come, 12 so far, and will send out my address for deposit etc via email once/as I get email addresses for those for whomi do not presently have this info my email address is

t.grassie@napier.ac.uk

so
Kenny, Skimpy and Nick..I’d be gratefulif you could confirm or otherwise by email at your earliest convenience..also let me know if you need accommodation..

cheers and festive regards

Tom

Hi Tom - I’ve decided to give this a miss this time, but if you were to repeat the exercise in the future, please let me know. I hope the event is successful - I’m sure you’ll all have a great time.
All the best, Kenny
