*Cross posted from the Irish Trad Music forum because whats a pub without a few magazines lying around ;o)
Yep, they actually published something I wrote as a column on their web site. You can check it out at this link: http://www.makingmusicmag.com/pages/columns/06jan02.html
I ran across this magazine at Swannanoa last summer. It full title is
Making Music: Better Living through Recreational Music Making.
It’s a cool magazine and they offer a free issue. So check out the articles on their web site and sign up for a free issue.
I’ve always maintained that the playing of this music is a translation of feeling. Each and every tune has a personality, a character, a mood, a moment. Sadness, Ectasy, Defiance, Solititude…the list could go on all night.
Once you understand the mood of the tune you are half way to playing it as it should be played.
Forget about the technical aspect…feel the mood, find the Soul of the tune…Nice one Lee..very nice
“Please enter my subscription to Making Music for $16.95 and send me my Free issue immediately! I’ll receive 6 more issues for less than $3 each. That’s like getting 4 issues free.”
I want to know what math method they used to come to that conclusion!?!?
$16.95/6=$2.83/issue - that is certainly less than $3, no argument
$16.95/7(including the “Free” issue)=$2.42/issue - even further less than $3
But… how does that equate to being “like getting 4 issues free”? Is it $3 on the newsstands maybe?
