M&E whistle ??

Awhile back there was talk of a new polymer whistle by M&E. It was reviewed on flutesite.com,but seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know what happened?

Ask James (peeplj)–I seem to remember he has one, and I think he is the owner of flutesite.com. You could send him a PM or something.

I do indeed have one of these, with two interchangeable heads, one with a sweeter tone and moderate volume (but still louder than a Susato ever thought about being), and one with the volume and projection roughly of a clarinet.

Mine is in polymer; I believe he made one for Dale in wood.

Mine is a great whistle, probably my best whistle for open-area performance. It doesn’t have the edge of the Susato, and the volume is well-balanced octave to octave, and doesn’t get shrill on the high end.

I don’t know if Micheal Cronnolly is still making these–I am going to email him and see what he says.

Michael is notoriously slow when it comes to getting new products up on his site–he has only recently added the Rudall & Rose model that he’s been selling for quite a while now. It may be that he simply hasn’t added the whistle to his site yet.

If interested in one of these–and you should be; it’s a really nice whistle–drop Michael an email at polymer@eircom.net .

Here are some examples of what this whistle sounds like:
