As a beginner that plays “Plain Jane” style I feel so insulted and put down. How dare you mock those of us that just can’t seem to get the hang of onamentation and would just LOVE to be able to even do a simple cut or slide!!! You should be ashamed of yourself, Bloom. No wonder EVERYONE considers you an arrogant and boorish bully.
I think I might just stomp on out of here and not come back any more. It is WAY too hostile and unfriendly for me. Sheesh, I did not even have to post a song to get treeted like this. Bah…how do I change my password again?
By the way, your song was not phrased very well. I could hear you breath between the second and third note (most likely the incorrect place anyway). You OBVIOUSLY missed a perfect opportunity to stick a roll or cran between the third and fourth note. Any you call yourself a whistle player. The shame of it all.
I only directly offered an opinion on your playing of Alexander’s hornpipes as far as I can remember. I never heard you play much more than maybe three tunes and that only very recently. I don’t know how you really value these things.
wow…Every other city we go, every other video, we see the same Purists. Seriously, isn’t it almost funny that this not-really-trad-player hating is seen anywhere, be it IR, US or JPN? (the last being funnniest of all like “Tin Whistles are for ITM” slogan pasted everywhere on the website of whose I dare not mention). I’ll say again, I don’t think I must play, when playing ITM, with traditional style, or ITM in general just because I play whistles.
If someone opens up a website, in an instant it becomes a sort of an authority especially where the need for whistles are rare (i.e.e.g. Singapore, Japan etc). That’s fine. But when the webmanager starts grumbling about how whistles should be ornamented in ITM way or should be reviewed with regard to Rean Syan or the reginal style in Zlare, I should have to start questioning his real motive.
