List of whistle makers?

Is there a list of whistle makers, similar in content to the list of Irish flute makers on A Guide To The Irish Flute? I would like to pick up a few more toys, but I’m not sure where to start.

Thanks to all who reply.

With best regards,

Pfreddee(Stephen)

Another list : http://pipersgrip.50webs.com/Makers.html .

If we’re making a list, let’s not forget a few I’m familiar with:

Clarkes - obviously. Their whistles may not be to everyone’s taste, but they’re definitely different.

Clare Whistles - Dave Le Bas makes a nice basic two-piece amongst others

Waltons - their lightweight “Little Black Whistle” needs to be experienced

Feadog - not my favourite, but a lot of people like them

Here are some sites I had bookmarked, but be warned that many of these lists are very much out of date.

http://www.whistletutor.com/resources
http://whistle.jeffleff.com/makers.html

…and to the list that’s being accumulated, I’d add Guido Gonzato.

Hi all … Sorry I don’t have time right now … But one of our Chiffboard members is currently in the process of compiling just such a comprehensive, updated list, which we hope to make available soon.

Unfortunately, your ChiffCo. staff are completely swamped at the moment by a wave of projects. As they say … not an excuse, just an explanation …

That’s some welcome news. I remember a couple of years ago when I was looking around for info on whistle makers, it was very frustrating when half the links on those sites were no longer working. That’s going to be a great resource for folks.

Don’t forget Daniel Bingamon.

He makes just about every instrument you can think of.

Yes, he is, and yes, he does. I am not sure how long it will take me, as I am busy with other things as well, but I hope to have it compiled as soon as possible.

(If you think it’s easy to track down reviews, price ranges and contact info for 30+ makers, let’s see you do it. :stuck_out_tongue: )

and within minutes of publishing it

|: it will need to be updated :expressionless:

I haven’t seen Hans Bracker mentioned yet. Very fine whistle maker and frequent contributor to the Chiff & Fipple.
