Arrived yesterday…who knew there were so many ways to make world music!
People can say what they wish about Lark’s high prices, but the store in San Francisco is FUN!! Wall to wall, floor to ceiling instruments that people can try. I love that place! I just got into a wholesale crafts show in SFO in February, so barring any unforseen pregnancy complications, I’ll get to go to Lark again! Yay!!

It really is! I’d never been there before we visited this summer, but wow! It’s like a toy store for folk musicians! My husband and daughter practically had to drag me out of there by the neck.
BTW, they were very nice about the Oak I bought there that cracked a fipple a few days later. I sent them an email, and heard right back with an offer for a replacement by mail (I didn’t take them up on it, as I’d decided to put a new head on the Oak tube, but I appreciated the offer).

The shop in Mendicino is great too, especially the location!

Jessie, be sure to let us know when you are ready to come out here. Give us a couple of weeks notice and we can organize a Winter gathering of the SF group to show you a great time with great people.
Purchases over $100 are getting 10% off these days.
Thanks, Steven! It’ll be February 7th through 11th.

Freaky. I read this thread yesterday…this morning LITM catalog mysteriously appears in my mailbox. Never seen one before…could it be linked to my ordering from the Whistle Shop…or Michael Burke? Don’t know. But I’ll definitely consider a “pocket clarinet” for my clarinetist (what a hoot!) and maybe some other stocking stuffers.
Pocket clarinet!
I would like to know more. Anyone have experience with these?
Best wishes,
Jerry
I haven’t played one of the pocket clarinets in Lark’s catalog, but I build and sell something similar. I call it a “Saxuhachi”. I mentioned posting some pic’s & sound clips of it a while back, but I forgot.
I’ve been too busy learning the whistle and several other instruments. (Lark’s strikes again!)
Gosh, music is addictive!
I’d like to see a review of the pocket clarinet too.

Don’t know if I’ll be able to help. The “cheap” one is $50, so she have to want it as opposed to it being a random fun purchase.
