Large Hadron Collider

Here’s something else to worry about.

Don’t get me wrong. I have no problem with black holes. I’m just not sure they conform to the zoning ordinances. Well, at least they’ll be little ones.

It’s still on the first page of the forum as well…

Whoops, sorry! I can’t keep up with all these Armageddons! :astonished:

so why isn’t this trhread part of the original thread?

Inquiring minds, etc

I don’t see any gnarly events on the horizon from this. Or event horizons.

The collisions they will produce happen naturally when cosmic rays and other fast particles collide in our nearby space (such as the upper atmosphere). If there was a danger of black holes forming, then we would have vanished sometime in the last 4.5 billion years.

And we might see other spots vanishing - including other planets with Large Hadron Colliders.

One of the scientists on this project mentioned this on “Science Fridays” on NPR

I am more worried about my daughter vanishing in the wrong part of LA. She is down there now at art school.
