Well. After waiting for over a year, my Swayne flute should be comming in the next few weeks. There have never been many posts on this forum about Swayne flutes…most likely because there are not many of them around. He is known as a bagpipe maker. Anyway, for fun I’ll post my thoughts about the flute when it arrives.
Can’t hardy wait, I loved the one I tried that an acquaintance owns.
As a huge fan (and proud possessor of one) of his (high D) whistles, I shall be very interested, Dragon - please will you post pics and clips as well as comments? One of my next instrument acquisition objectives is one of his low whistles…
I’ve had my whistle about 4-5 years. I waited something over a year for it as, at the time, he wasn’t making whistles and was waiting to do a batch together - he took my name as interested/on waiting list and he let me know when he had some available, so I wasn’t exactly waiting for a specifically ordered instrument with a predicted time-scale. It was well worth the wait, though. If you search on my profile/posting record, you can find some clips recorded on it if you are interested. I first tried one of his whistles in the late 1970s and coveted one for nearly 30 years! I’ve never had a go on a flute of his that I can recall.
I saw a video of a Swayne low whistle on kerrywhistles. It has to be one of the most beautiful whistles I’ve ever seen. I didn’t know he made flutes. Please keep us posted!
