A Rowsome full set sold at auction for around US$12,000 two years ago.
I remember, around 1980, visiting John’s shop and seeing on display the famous all-metal Taylor “Gattling Gun” set.
Where did that end up?
John Pedersen sold it to Rolf Knüsel. Thomas Johnson’s page on Taylor pipes has a photo and description of that set here.
Jaysus I’d be all over that Rowsome set if I had the spare bucks.

hmm… that photo doesn’t clearly show the all-metal Gattling Gun mainstock very well.
By the way, about that Taylor pipes site, I emailed that guy years ago with info/clear description of a Taylor set around here and he never responded nor did he add it to his list. So he doesn’t seem to be very interested in compiling a list of all known Taylors.
Wow. Gorgeous instruments. Best of luck selling them, hopefully there will be a bit of a bidding war and Pedersen jr.'s tuition won’t be a worry any longer.
Thomas has always responded very thoughtfully to my contacts, although, as in your case, he has not posted some information I gave him long ago about a Taylor chanter that a friend of mine owns. I don’t think he’s paid much attention to that site for several years. He used to post here as Steampacket, until one of our dear mods dissed him.
He also compiled a list of Rowsome sets and their owners a while back. Interesting guy, he shared a nice story with me about playing his pipes at Johnny Doran’s grave.
The “Gatling Gun” set in question is fully described by Rolf Knusel in ‘An Piobairi’ Vol 3, Number 25, March 1996 with photos and can be downloaded from the NPU website (members only section).

Just looked at the An Pobairi article and thats one weird set. But is it definately a Taylor set or is it a Hennelly who was apt to do odd things like the set shown in Pat Skys tutor?
Wouldnt having the Contra Bass regulator on the outside get in the way
Prhaps this should be a new thread on identifying taylor sets from there imitators

I wonder does the name Coyne or Rowsome on a set add any value or is it just worth what a good set of pipes is worth,or to put it another way can you put a price on historical value ?
