"I just want … to tell you to keep driving people nuts around the globe by playing your whistle at every red light, during TV commercials and at every opportunity and possibility! Drive your wife and family daft with a shrieking whistle! Nothing keeps the heart younger. " ~Joanie Madden

Steffi,

Where were all the whistle players Monday night? I was the only person at the Chiff get together without a flute!

Right, I missed the gathering Monday night too. I did get to meet many of the flute crowd during the week though - the Chiff & Fipple community was well represented at Augusta this year. Dale, the exalted one, should be commended for his impact on the ITM world in West Virginia.

But to get back to CranberryDog’s original query - Joanie plays O’Riordans and Burkes mostly. They contribute to her performance but her tone and technique are substanially the same on other whistles. These workshops are a good way to gain insight into how Joanie and other players get their sound. I highly recommend them.
