It rained in L.A.

It rained here in L.A, since 1 o’clock. Its now 7 and it has stopped. We had a small tornado in Perris, a small town maybe 50 miles east of Diamond Bar, It has trailer parks so the tornado is in its natural habitat.

End times, I tell you, end times!

And now back to our normal programming…

If you get this excited by a little rain, what will you do when there’s a fog upon L.A. and your friends have lost their way?

What is this “rain” thing of which you speak, fel? I don’t think I’m familiar with it. Someone once told me it’s water coming out of the sky, but that sounds pretty far-fetched to me. Maybe I should check with Snopes …

Personally, if I ever saw such a thing, I’d celebrate by driving right onto the freeway and crashing into something. But that’s just silly, isn’t it?

I don’t think djm has spent much time in southern Cal…

Nope…you can always tell

He’s too busy grooving to that weird psychedelic rock and roll music the kids are all into nowadays. Ayup, that’s it.

takes them fads a while to reach some places…

Location: Canada

Over here, in the upper East coast, it’s been a bit cooler and a bit wetter than usual.

In recent years, it has commonly been said that winter goes suddenly into summer, without much of a spring, but not this year.

Yeah speaking of weird weather… This past monday, as in 4 days ago, we had records temps of 110 F. A wee bit early for them 110’s… FOUR days later, or, currently, it’s 52 F outside and raining like an Irish country side… Mise thinks end of times might not be far off!

Happy weather! :really:

Nope, never been to California (never been to Spain, either). In my youth we drove through northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine. For business, I have flown to Raleigh, NC a few times. Other than that, I have had no pressing need to go to the US.

if you think rain’s crazy wait until you get snow!

I hope we get some up here this weekend. NWS is forecasting thunderstorms in the Sierra. Puhleeze dump some aqua in the reservoirs…

Every time we would have weird weather growing up, my grandma used to say “not even the Angels in Heaven know…” I had no idea what she meant until later, but she was referring to the end of the world, too. Isn’t it strange how weird weather makes people think about the end of the world? I’d wager that this is so because the weather is largely outside of our control, and it’s something ancestral cave people (or Adam and Eve, if you will) learned to fear. There’s not really much you can do to change the weather.

I’ll bet you folks froze your butts off.

That’s OK I can’t imagine 110. I’d keel over and combust.

Yeah, but its a dry heat :boggle:

Here in “greater Los Angeles” we’ve had a number of alternating weekends: first near 100, then in the 60’s, then near 100, then in the 60’s, then near 100, now back to the 60’s but this time with rain, hail, and tornados (strong enough to blow several railway cars off the tracks).

Yesterday afternoon I had to play pipes while marching graduates across a big field in the pouring rain.

Today and tomorrow is our largest Scottish festival. Often it is blazing hot, but today’s forecast is for 60’s and thunderstorms.

And its still raining!!
Stay dry

Hey What are you doing with our rain???
(looking out at lovely sunny evening sky)

David- what was bad was last weekend it was in the 90s-100s. Had to turn the air conditioning on… air conditioning in May is usually a sign of a hot, hot summer.

Rather you than me for that fel bautista.

Heat in that range would have me prostrate with heat exhaustion.
