Is this a real tune?

I posted this link on the whistle forum recently, but thought I’d try it here.

This tune has been rattling around in my head since well before I took up the whistle last month. I’ve been playing it on the guitar for months.

I don’t know if it’s something traditional that I’m misremembering, or if its part of an actual tune.

If I can’t pin it down, maybe I should write a B part and claim to have composed it?

Sounds similar to the A part of Napolean Crossing the Rhine aka Napolean Crossing the Alps. And before you ask, yes, it was indeed to get to the other side.

Thanks, but neither of the versions of Napoleon Crossing the Rhine on JC’s ABC Tune Finder site sound much like it to me–and they are not a lot alike, either.

Definitely not Napoleon Crossing the Alps. I don’t recognise the tune, but that doesn’t mean much. Sounds good, though.

Notice I said similar. I can’t think of a recorded version that sounds the way I have heard it played. I’m only going by the midi file you provided.

Aha.
