Hmmm… “Tony Darnell” bears a striking resemblance to Andrea Corr.
The doctor shows his ignorance once again…
Would somebody tell me what the heck a BLOG is?
Taken from a friend’s LiveJournal entry…
This is considered a “blog,” correct? “Blog” is a contraction of “web” and “log,” “weblog,” and ultimately, “blog.”
I learned that.
=P
So…what’s a web log?
Is this like a diary? A log that someone keeps? Or, a log that has spider webs on it?
yep, just another thing you can do on the 'net. It’s nothing more than a diary except, as opposed to the book version where the writer generally wishes everything within to remain secret, a blog is written in the hope that others will stumble across it and want to read it as well. That being said, I find Tony’s blog to be quite a fascinating and insightful read.

I think the term “blog” also relates to the huge amounts of data / bandwidth used up for these web logs… some of it of dubious value, IMO.
That’s a bold statement there - we are talking about stuff out on the internet.
Jim.
Truly - how long has the statement “It must be true, I read it on the internet” been in our vernacular?

If you want to see blogs in action, try http://www.livejournal.com , also known as livedrama.com. Here, you can read flame wars, accusations, he said-she said dilemas, insipid comebacks and witless reparte that make our worst arguments here look like a phd debate society.
No thanks, Marc.
One of my resolutions on New Years’ Day is to spend much less time on this internet-thingy.

Ahah… LiveJournal is the place to be if you love drama =P and immaturity.
You mean it’s sort of like a high-brow version of democratic(sic)underground?

I’m amazed! People on here don’t find online weblogs fulfilling and nurturing to their souls? What is going on? There must be a glitch in the Matrix… It means they’ve changed something.
Don’t believe a thing you read on the internet. The internet is full of crackpots who sit in their basement with strange contraptions straped on with bags under one arm and weird pumps under the other, making all sorts of noises (some good, most bad) - and then write about it on the internet to the entire world! Who would do such a thing? Certainly not anyone who knew what they were talking about. You should run, not walk from such a person as fast as you can. ![]()
Only very bizarre people would ever think of doing such a thing. ![]()
Imagine my surprise when I returned from vacation to see that someone had posted a link to my blog from here. Traffic skyrocketed from the usual one or two lone souls who actually read the thing, to hundreds per day.
Thank you Jim, for the exposure (the legal kind of exposure, that is), it was very kind of you.
It is my hope to share my experience of learning to play the pipes to others who may be considering starting out and to give hints that have helped me along the way, and maybe make a person smile. Sometimes, a personal record of the frustrations and successes of learning to play such a challenging instrument can help others just starting out. I was looking for that sort of thing when I was contemplating starting out. Of course, then I heard Liam O’ Flynn and Willie Clancy and that decided it.
Feel free to comment on on anything you find there, I won’t edit anything out - I’m a glutton for punishment that way I guess.
Cheers,
Tony
PS, I really do look like Andrea Corr. It’s a curse, more than a blessing…
