Wow. Thanks for posting that. It sounded great. That looks like a pricey condensor mic. I have seen a mic corked into the chanter end cap made by barcus berry. Used for flutes. What do you pipers think of that? Not sure how the vid mic hits back D.

Beautiful tune. Thanks!

I’ve seen lavalier mics put inside top piece…(but I personally dont like the sound of it so much).but this totally different adjusting .
With gaita they use Audio Technica mics - pro 7s, or 831b model with clip ..if remember rigth Troy Donockley and E.Dillon have such like mics ..correct me if somebody knows better the mictype.

I think Ger is using a Barcus Berry saxophone pick-up.
I had one years ago but I never really likes the tone so I sold it. Those pick-ups would sit right on the reed under or over the bridle.
If you wanted to put the pick-up under the bridle you had to scrape away some of the binding which could result in an unstable reed.
Over the bridle placement worked ok but resulted in a muted reed.
The great advantage of these things is that there was a zero chance of feedback. I don’t think Barcus Berry make them any more but there are other similar brands.

I use a DPA 4088 in one show that I work with although I’ve altered the headband strap to be able to tape it to the chanter.
The DPA 1099U is great too.
The only thing with these clip on mics is that they are very sensitive and you can run into feedback problems when used on a small stage with lots of monitors around.
