At a recent gig, I borrowed a clip-on condenser mic and attached it to loop on my bass drone. It picked up the drones and regs pretty well. So I’m thinking of investing.
Any recommendations for a mid-range clip-on condenser mic to use with pipes (drones/regs)?
I used one of these Audio Technica clip on mics for years at the pub. It was pretty cheap and worked okay. I clipped it onto the middle of the bari drone and aimed it downwards towards the bass drone at about the middle of the regs on the tenor side.

I;ve been screwi…experimenting with all kindsa stuff like this for a while, & goshdarnit, worst things about clipons (dynamic & condenser) is, they amplify every little bing, bang & pop that your pipe undergoes. If your a ‘heavy’ reg-stomper PJ (no shame in it; i just don t know if you are, or not 
) then your gonna get a wicked thump every time ya hit the regs. Best place for a clip-on is just above the right nip…lapel button, pointed down at the whole mainstock contraption. There’s no ideal solution that ive found, with one mic, to do justice to what we hear while holding the pipes. :shrug: maybe someone else has had sucess?

I use a DPA clip on mic but whatever brand you use you need a mic with an omni directional capsule.
The mics with a cardiod pattern capsule, or head, will tend to pick up finger taps a lot more than omni directional heads.

use them too. used to use two, one clipped to tuning pin of tenor reg, the other to the tuning pin of bass reg… ran cables in through a bag cover and out the back end… back when we had a regular pub gig they really helped with making me heard over crowd noise with no feedback.
be careful bending them around though… there seems to be finite number of bends the little things will take before they can short out… down to one now and it lives on a bodhran.
