What would be better, a tunable dixon suprano, or a tunable susato kildare? D whistle :-?
I can’t really recommend a Dixon, had 2 of them, both were terrible!! The intonation was really, really for crap, although the tone was pleasant enough. Second octave was a nightmare. Other people have these whistles and love them though, so maybe there are quality control issues with these.
I’ve never played one of the Susato’s
If you are looking for a whistle that has the “power” to drive a tune. The Susato’s are amazing, and very loud! I love them myself.
If you are looking for a whistle that is generally “quiet” in nature and very soft spoken. The Dixon’s are fare. -Talbert
I have both and like both. Talbert pretty much hit the nail on the head…the Susato Kildare is full of power (it was my Morris whistle until I got my Sweetheart); the Dixon is quieter and, to my ear, perhaps a bit richer. There do seem to be some inconsistencies with the Dixons, but from everything I’ve heard, Tony Dixon is great about fixing any problems that may arise.
