I was on TV-but also somewhat OT- and political

I was watching the 5:30 local news and low and behold there I was playing my Abell A whistle. About three hundred of us walked out to StratCom near Omaha to ask that they not develop the mini-nukes or any other nuclear weapons for that matter (Cheney and company will be there next week to talk about those very issues).

Nice meeting and even had four gentleman who survived the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki speak to us about their experience. Had a good conversation with one of the Air Force officers but he wouldn’t let our Weapons Inspectors on the base to check for WMDs…go figure. He did, in a politically correct manner, let us know that the military in general is not real thrilled about further development of more nukes of any shape, size, or color.

We treated the men and officers with respect, they treated us with respect and we all agreed that all of us wanted a peaceful world. A good dialogue!

Anyway in the news coverage, I got caught playing Lakes of Ponchatrain. I was playing it a bit faster than I would have preferred but it didn’t sound half bad…as a matter of fact it sound at least half good.

I’ve had the Abells since the first of the year and its taken me a while to really make them sing. I’m firmly convinced that the whistles “play in” over time and sound better. I’m also willing to admit that part of it is also my learning how they want to be played. If you get a chance try one.

Or better still plan to hook up with some of us at the Milwaukee Irish Fest and you can try mine.

Way to go Jim, and more power to ya. I am no longer supprised at how many people I talk to no nothing about the attemted development of these tactical nukes. We did sign the Nuke None Proliferation Treaty didnt we. Oh well rules are for other people not for us. Oh thats right I dont do political topics-) Wouldnt want to start something contriversial.

Yeah. Get rid of the things. I can see it now, “It’s OK to use these little nukes because they only wipe out a city block. See? It’s cool man. Relax.”

Bosh.

Gee, I wonder if this has anything to do with general world opinion of the U.S…

way to go jim, wish i had a been at your side. those people need thorns in their side, in a day and age where so few care :frowning:
