I have been gone for a while, but I am back. A lot has happened since the last time I have visited. Not the least, I have moved from Seattle back to Houston, where I was born.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a good session and/or a good pint in the Webster/Clear Lake area.
Can’t help you with any info about Houston … but that sure is an interesting whistle you’re holding in your avatar. Are you starting a new line of whistles?
I always “want” to try your whistles, Chuck. However, right now, the “affording” part of the deal is really iffy … more like impossible.
The GFM D/C set & the narrow brass GFM (very sweet whistle!) is in my collection. How did I miss the development of a delrin & brass one? Time to start socking back change …
Thanks very much, Judy. If I had my way, I would never sell another whistle as long as I live. I would give them away to people who want them. Unfortunately, there’s this thing called reality…
I’ll be bugging you about the delrin & brass in about 6 months, Chuck. Did a quick whistle check this afternoon (been rummaging through Annie’s excellent whistle satchel) and found another different brass GFM. Almost makes up for not ordering the delrin tooter right now.
Yep … an amazing amount of my funds seem to go in the gas tank right now, even with a fairly decent gas price. Don’t see things improving much any time in the near future here either.
Your posts about one of my old brassies inspired me to try a design I had been thinking about for a while in copper water pipe. It is a lot like the brass you have, but much, much easier to do. Here are some pics:
It has some problems. The back pressure is too high and the upper and lower octaves are out of tune with one-another. I need to find another way to keep the block inside the fipple. (I hate dimples) Oh yes… and I need to drill some holes…
