…the bitter, dry cold that saps every ounce of moisture out of your body…the perpetual black ice in many areas…grr…
And the only car I can drive during the winter is my truck, because, as any of you who’ve ever driven a '60s era sports car know, their heaters aren’t really heaters…in fact, on many cars of that era, heaters were an option.
My mustang has the optional heater, but lacks the optional heater fan… ![]()
I can’t believe its going to get even warmer this week, here. ![]()
Cheers, Tyler! ![]()

Bitter cold? Man this year has been mild! I wouldn’t call it all that dry either honestly, but drier than say the northwest sure. I went out to Evanston yesterday for some fireworks and a bit of a drop for tonights festivities, and there it was getting a bit chilly - 6 deg. F. But it was 41 at my place just yesterday afternoon. Not what I’d call bitter - I was wearing flip flops. ![]()
you, sir, are insane…
![]()
Well, in fairness, they were my winter flip-flops. They have a little thicker sole to insulate better from the ice and snow. My summer variety are much thinner. ![]()
Do you have Hobbit feet? Large and furry on top with extra thick soles? ![]()
I do.
And before I enlisted and found myself living in dorms with a bunch of adolescent drunks that broke glass everywhere they could (not) think to do so, I walked barefoot a lot.
Of course, ya can get away with that in Texas.
You used to be able to get away with it in Texas… before the fire ants moved in.
When we moved to Texas in 1992, no one warned us about fire ants. So, I was standing, barefoot, on the ground floor patio of our apartment when my feet suddenly started to feel like they were covered in hot coals. It was a swarm of fire ants. Those little buggers are aptly named. (And my feet were covered in little white blisters for days.) ![]()
Dude, it has been flat-out raining here for the past two days. Raining. Three or four days, maybe more now that I think of it, if you count the vague drizzle before that. It is seriously so not Minnesotan.
It’s supposed to turn to snow tonight, finally, but I wonder how that’ll go.
Okay, it’s snowing, now. Just thought you all would be interested.
thank you! ![]()
ooo will you send it over to Michigan? Pretty please? I love snow and we’ve hardly gotten any this year. It’s disgusting ![]()
My pleasure, as always.
Hey, we’re snow-deprived, too, you know. I’ll send what I can, though.
Just looked out the window, Alcona. Gee. It shore is purty, here. ![]()
LOL…I have had mine described that way. The extra thick soles comes from hating shoes and the hair, well let’s just say I really didn’t loose my hair, it just migrated…
Hairy feet? Nope - not needed till one heads north to say…Nome Alaska. Then I might even be forced to revert to the fur lined flip flops. Better safe than sorry when it’s really really cold out. ![]()

It’s been raining all day and night here. We even got a few thunderstorms
. I may have to move farther north or something. I’ll be keeping an eye out for at least a few flakes from your direction ![]()
We just got back from northern Minnesota and there were just a few thin patches of snow on the ground up there, although 5-8" was predicted for the day after we left. We never even got our really warm clothes out up there this year—just wore a polar fleece jacket, put on my cap once. We put harnesses on our kitties and took them for walks. It was really quite unusual—but lovely as always.
