Housten, the Weasel has landed!

Two Water Weasels that is.

I recently traded for a Hi-D and a Low-G.

I am terrifically impressed!

Volume and tone quality are tremendous.

I don’t know if these are a cure for WhOA but I think they will definitely send it into remission!

Glenn Schultz you’re my hero…making something so fabulous out of such common materials. Forget this veterinarian thing. I want to be a whistle maker when I grow up.

Doc

Well, I don’t know where you are, but it’s obviously not Houston!

Congrats! I have a Feadóg and hope to upgrade to a Susato someday.

Kim

My apologies to the Houstonites,

I tried several other spellings before I settled on the wrong one. Next time I’ll look at the atlas : )

Doc

Oh, I’m just teasing! I grew up just south of there, in a little town called “Alvin”!

Kim

By the way Kim,

I do have a Susato on eBay right now if your having a WhOA attack.

Here’s the Link:

Doc

Oh groan, it’s beautiful!! But my husband would kill me if I paid even $25 for a whistle, even though I know it’s worth every penny. (He’s not real happy with this new hobby in the first place…)

I was thinking a small bore C Dublin, so I can really get on his nerves?

Kim

How much was his last fishing rod/hunting rifle/tickets to the baseball game? ; )

Doc

Oh…the fishing rod…it was mine!

Really though, I want to get a bit better and as I get better, and show my commitment, he won’t mind if shell out enough to get a Weasel even someday. But I’ve only been playing a couple of months! I’m just at Feadóg level right now! The Dublin is a ways down the road.

I’ll get a couple of Megs to get through the WHOA.

Kim

I don’t know if these are a cure for WhOA but I think they will definitely send it into remission!

I wouldn’t bet on that! Glenn also makes LOTS of other keys, not to mention terrific flutes…

Yes, yes…those waterweasels are amazing…but then there’s that Honduran Rosewood, for example…just thought I’d mention that…WHOA is me…Philo

I really really really wish I’d known before I got into this how addictive whistles are. And that it spreads! Now I want an Irish flute, in addition to the list of whistles I want.

OTOH, I got my own first convert. Lent a Meg to a friend who came back the next day wanting to buy it. I told her it was a gift, contingent on her letting me try the whistles she’ll start collecting any day now .

TK

I got a friend of mine hooked on the whistle and she has now gone absolutely crazy over them! She has a tweeked D Clarke and a C Meg and a carrying case (all from the Whistle Shop).

All I did was mention my Feadóg I got off Ebay and it struck her fancy. She now has tunes recorded that she emails me. She’s much better than I am, she has more background in music…but I’m glad to have given her the whistle bug! She is apparently getting a great deal of enjoyment from it!

Hey Whistle Shop guy…the lady from North Carolina ordering from you is my friend!! She’s very pleased with her purchases by all accounts!

Kim

hey Doc Jones
If you like Glenn’s WaterWeasels, then you’ll be interested to know that Glenn Schultz just completed a special series of 9 irish flutes in exotic woods. Just flip over to the Flute Forum part of C&F and you’ll be able to ead some discussion about his flutes. Looks like 3 have sold right away. In addition to 5 WaterWeasels, I also have a ThinWeasel of Glenn’s, and as fabulous as the WaterWeasel is, the ThinWeasel is even better with its gorgeous wood grain and slightly purer sound. Good luck to you, and welcome to the Schultz fan club. He lives about 45 minute drive from me, so I get to visit him occasionally…if you ever have the chance, he’s a wonderful person to visit.

I’ll second your comments about Glenn as a person. I was honored to have him at our wedding 2 days ago ( he and wife Viki drove all the way to Albany NY from Michigan). Terrific, complex man with many talents.
(BTW-- I have a digital pic of him and me from the reception somewhere on my computer and will post it if I can figger out how to add pictures to this board-- any suggestions?)
