Has anyone tried the whistle Holifield Low D? The mouth resembles the MK Low D…

I have one. It’s not the same as MK. The mouthpiece is shorter… also the stretch is a bit longer… It’s may be just a little quieter than a MK but with more pure tone… Second octave is easy and it doesn’t require much air. Very balanced and nice Low whistle!

What about clogging?

Is OXXOOO in tune?

Yes, I have an MK. It’s difficult to say which one is better.. it’s very subjective… MK is a bit louder, brighter and seems to have more chiff…Holifield has more pure and tender kind of sound… the second octave is easy and sweet… OXXOOO is in tune. It clogs a bit but not much… I haven’t seen any videos yet…

Hi Everyone. Thanks Fotosled for the comments and feedback. Fotosled you where one of the first to receive the low D in its original form. Based on the info coming back I wanted to let it be known I have made some small modifications to the head design to address the issues raised. Now the wind way is a little taller and wider. I think this will help reduce the slight tendency towards blockage when the whistle is cold and the slightly wider window has increased the volume a little as well. Back pressure as one would expect has been reduced but there is still enough and the whistle also seems to be faster and crisper (is that a word?).
Fotosled, I sent you an email and I am happy to exchange the whistle you have for one with the new head.

I’m waiting for a new head for my Holifield low D. I’ll try and put up a demo of it on Youtube. Maybe a side by side demo with the MK Pro.
