I have an instrument that I was given as a child, I think it is a flute. It is made of dark wood. It has 10 holes, but only 4 are covered. I have no idea what it is, or what it is worth, and was hoping someone here could help me. (I did a “google search” and ended up on this forum). It is about a foot and a half long, and is marked “Parade Model J.W.S.L.” I know the JWSL stands for Joseph Wallis and Sons Ltd.
Are these common? It has a bit of damage, and I don’t know if it’s playable, because I don’t play.
If someone could help me, I would appreciate it. I can send a picture to any respondents. Thank you for your time. cookiejen100@hotmail.com Please use flute as the message title.
My guess is that it’s an old band flute.
Google found me An old thread on C&F here:

which also has a link to a photo. Is this your flute?
Wanna sell it?

The bottom piece of the 4, that’s what mine is. It is in a little worse shape, there was no box for it, and some of the pads are dried out. One of the silver key things is cracked, and it’s chipped on the "blowing’ end, but at the top, as though it had been dropped.
If you are interested in buying it, you can email me an offer, but I was more just interested in valuing it, and trying to get info on it!
