I have this whistle in the C&F vault and I regret that I’ve forgotten who made it. When I was collecting at a rapid rate some years ago, I tagged whistles which didn’t have markings, but not this one, alas.
Anyone recognize it?

There are many… Oz, Busman, Abell, Rose, just to quickly name a few.
Judging from the very straight grain and particular finish I’m guessing bamboo?
I do think it’s bamboo. It has no markings to suggest a maker. I think I’ve had it for 12 or 13 years. I suspect it was sent by someone who very briefly got into the whistle making business and is no longer active. It plays pretty well.
It certainly is pretty. The tuning slide and window design look quite a lot like David O’Brien’s work but the mouthpiece is certainly unique.
What a great mystery.
