I got this from my high school physics teacher - I found it on his ‘shelf of interesting stuff’ and he let me keep it. It operates similarly to a slide whistle. It has two shafts and is very small, ranging from 2.5 (closed) to 4 inches (extended). It’s too high pitched for my tuning program to register.

It is audible at all levels.
I thought maybe it was a dog whistle but why would it be adjustable with two shafts?
On a more serious note… possibly used in a robotics lab where high pitched sounds are used to signal motor controlled devices.

I bought a couple of large wooden “whistles” on Ebay from 2 different sellers. Thot they would be interesting in my collection…turns out they were organ pipes!

Try setting one of the slides about mid-way and then blow both while pulling & pushing the second slide along it’s whole range. You should get interference & some wierd effects.
This would also demonstrate that sound travels in waves, not particles.
This is apparently two modified phone-plug electrical connectors on a banana plug body. Banana plug connectors like this used to be used for stereo speakers. The phone plug portions were used for headphones. Mixed and matched with other electrical connector parts.
Could this be the elusive Davey Spillane whistle everyone has been waiting for?
After all, he has said for awhile that his whistles are unlike Overton, Goldie, or Hardy whistles.
This whistle is clearly unlike any of those.
