Help for a beautiful Flute to sell

Hi there,

I have this beautiful Irish flute I asked to be made by the french maker Pol Jezequel some 20 years ago and I never got to play it not even once. So it is brand new, it has been stored in perfect condition all these years.

It is a D flute, with blocks for keys but without keys, made in ebony and silver rings.
I would love it to be played now so I am looking to sell it, but I have not idea how much I can ask for it neither where I can post my ad, what do you guys think about it ?

Thanks for you help, I am in France at the moment

Hi Olywe. Pol Jezequel flutes are highly regarded. For an idea of the price you can expect, look for the few past sales on the irish flute store, keeping in mind that price in the US are often higher than here in europe. Your problem is obviously that this is neither a keyless flute nor a keyed one but a flute waiting for being keyed. So a seller would want to make sure he still can have it keyed and how much it would cost, and you should be able to answer.

If I were you I’d first try to contact Pol Jezequel, his contact can easily be found on the web. I’d ask him wether he would accept to add keys to this flute. But is Pol Jezequel still in business ? You also can ask other french makers (S. Lesouef, E.Juilleret, F. Baubet … ) wether they would accept to add keys over a Jezequel body. As for where to put it for sale ? In France unfortunately the only specialized forum is now closed, most flutes are sold on Le Bon Coin, another possibility would be to go to a summer festival and ask the people there if someone is interested. If you want to buy it in the US, you may contact the Irish Flute Store in Colorado. You’ll have to find out the export tarrifs for the keyed-but-not-really-keyed-breton-maker-wooden-flute category. Good luck.

BTW you can send me a mail, I’m in France as well and might be interested.
