Hi, I play bass trombone, I have recently goten into flute, I am not going to have a private teacher, this is sorta of a mess around thing, but I have always liked flute, and the school is giving me one for free to have some fun with, I’m gonna have some crash course lessons with the flute teacher then I am gonna teach myslef.
Just any advice would be great, I have playd brass intruments for four years, with mouthpices I think the whole way you blow into a flute will be fun. thanks alot
Hi!
I’m also a multi-instrumentalist, and I’ve found absolute gobs of info and opinions on this site. Lurking, participating, and using the ‘search’ features will get you on the right track.
Hope you have big hands: big, loud irish flutes won’t be a problem for you air-wise, but the stretch between holes can be a… stretch. I also assume that you’d want a flute with a honkin’ fat sound: they’re out there.
You might hear that brass and flute embouchures are mutually exclusive, but there are those who do both. Best of luck.
Wow, while I could tell you anything about trombones, I am a completely new to flute, I would like to learn more about this whole Irish flute gizmo. Also, as I am begginner, I think I will stick to the Yamaha starter maodels before I do anything Irish, I thought this was a flute forum, on usual flutes I mean, well any simple advice, tricks on getting started all the rest.
