Greetings from Augusta Irish Week

Greetins from Augusta!
It’s the second day and we have learned just three tunes in Joanie’s class..Ah, Surely - - - Ceol an Mala - - and a hornpipe the title of which she couldn’t remember.
The main whistle of choice is the Burke.
Joanie played my blackwood weasel and didn’t like it at all. No worries. I LOVE it still. I’m playing an O’Riordan at the classes - only one other in the class.
The overall ambience here is still one of circling - trying to figure out what group to play with - who does what - who’s open to newbies - who isn’t…

THe morning slow jams are good depending on the instructor. Of course the music is great.. it’s only the second day so more to come. Have not seen any identified C&F people here.

Michael Burke send down a box of session and standard whistles to sell. Joanie plays through them all and picks out the “best” to sell to the students…

I’ll update later. I’ll post PDF files of the tunes I learn out here when I return.

Tell Joanie that annie, of the whistle case, says “Hi!”

Have not seen any identified C&F people here.

You should have come to our gathering Monday night on the porch of Halliehurst. We were there in force. Several of us are in Kevin’s flute class.

Yep, there are several of us here. Sorry you missed the meeting and instrument swapping. I guess we could try to meet again sometime this week…not sure how to organize that. Perhaps, stand at the outside of the dining hall one day with a sign?

Hi
I have met some C&F people - but not all!
Class is going faster now. Learning more tunes. We’re up late - last night there was an allstar concert. Incredible.
Margaret

Thanks for the updates, and please do continue to keep us posted.

All best,

Laura

Hi Margaret! I didn’t connect that the Margaret in class was you until just now. (I was the girl with the Sindt who always sat with Cassie, if you don’t remember my name.) You were the savior of the sheet music folks who made all those transcriptions of the tunes, right…?
What an incredible week!
