If you are or ever have been a fan of Journey, you might check out their new vocalist.
I posted in an earlier thread links to the Vina del Mar festival where their new lead singer debuted, and unfortunately those links no longer appear to work. One might try searching youTube (I’d post it mesself, but I’m stuck at the office for a while today and our nannybot wont let me get to youTube)…Yeah, I’m impressed with this guy; still rough around the edges, but he’ll do fine if the band doesn’t tour him to death like they did with Augeri…
Anywhoo…I think I’ve mentioned it before, but a friend of mine has an insider-aquaintence with the band itself who’s just sent him copies of some of the work-in-progress stuff that will be on the next album (Not sure if I’ve mentioned it before; this friend of mine has a largest Journey bootleg collection in North America, and this contact of his is how he got most of his stuff), and boy does it rock! They’re planning on re-recording their greatest hits album with Pineda, thereby bypassing the stranglehold that Steve Perry has/had on the band, but they’re also working on new material to release as a companion album. It rocks quite a bit harder than anything else they’ve ventured to do before.
Yep, I’m excited…

I saw the Pineda’s stuff on YTube and I think he’s certainly got the potential to do this. Unlike the guy they had that replaced Augeri last summer - he stunk.

I can’t wait to hear the new/redone CD.

Jeff Scott Soto…yeah, he sucked it up bigtime…

It was really kind of unfortunate for Augeri…he kind-of got the shaft from the band when he had to quit the tour because of the infection he contracted, and they just kind-of replaced him on the down-low…
He’s still, to this day, a whole lot more gracious than I would have been about it. He’s got a solo album coming out some time this year as well.
Here’s to hoping the don’t tour Pineda to death like they did to Augeri, eh?
