Good but inexpensive Irish flute?

A friend of mine just told me she’s working on an album and has a song that needs some deep flute. I have a Chinese dizi flute and a fife but neither will do the trick.

I’ve been thinking about buying an Irish low D flute for a while now but I’m on a pretty serious budget. I like Tony Dixon’s but $250 isn’t gonna happen. Anyone know some good options?

This seems like my best bet so far but I don’t know how good it would be.

there will probably be a million more recommendations for tipple flutes on this post.

Allow me to put in the second.

Gotta love those Decemberists

Thanks for the help too!

I’m an amateur with a flute for sure, yet I can get a decent sound out of his flutes. Doug does good work.

One will be gifted in early August to someone who donates $10 or more to sponsor me in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Have fun,
