GFM tour review from the newbie point of view

So, I’ve only been playing a little while now but I thought I would sign on for the tour to help out the community.

I may be new to playing the whistle but I’m a pretty good judge of instruments being a musician of number of years. I was very impressed with the workmanship when I opened up the package. Even though they’re only prototypes, they were actually very nicely crafted.

The mezzo G was actually quite fun to play. It did take quite a bit of air, but I didn’t have a problem going between the first and second octave. Everything sounded very clear and sweet. This whistle was also quiet loud but also very dynamic depending on the amount of air used. All in all this was a nice and easy whistle to play.

The soprano D gave some serious problems for me unfortunately. The first octave had a nice tone but took quite a lot of air. The second octave was extremely difficult to play all the way through and was extremely loud. Fingering the instrument was easy enough but I felt it was uncomfortable to play. I suppose it could be the fact that I’m a beginner but I’ve played trumpet and clarinet previous and it felt like I needed more air than in playing those instruments.

Either way, I’m still very impressed with the production of these whistles. When they’re finally up for sale, I may have to get myself one of the mezzo G’s.

Nice review pureshift. That G body is definitely a winner. I’m still fond of the D but, I’m a little on the heavy metal side and I like things loud!

Ketida, pureshift is sending them to their next stop and then they’ll be on their way to you.

Jason the friendly tour manager.

I’ll be dropping it off at the post office today as I also have to drop off some batteries that need to go back to Apple.
