Getting Your Recordings In Real Player or WMP as a Link

After you record a tune how can you make it as a link so when someone clicks on it, the player pops up and plays the song?

Thanks!

Just upload the file to a webserver and copy the URL of the website and add the name of the file on the end.

For example, if you upload to a server called www.silverstrand.com and your file is called my.mp3, then the link you send out to people is http://www.silverstrand.com/my.mp3

You need a webserver though, it’s no good if the file’s on your PC hard disk.

It’s worth considering your format carefully, too. MP3s can be played by just about anyone. WMA (Windows Media) is good for anyone using Microsoft Windows, but users of other OSs may not have a player for them. RM (Real) is available for most platforms, but I won’t install it on my system as it’s an invasive and annoying piece of software.

So I’d recommend MP3.

I was thinking about opening a new thread for this but what the hell…
WTF is the problem with Real Player?

I use it for all sorts of things, mainly audio clips from all sorts of places and often for video clips from the Irish news site.
I have never had any pop - ups or anything nasty and I sweep at least twice a week for spyware, adware and all that stuff.
Every time I see something in a post about - Real Player involved - I think “Well…where’s the problem?”

Something is happening here and I don’t know what it is

Slan,
Mr.Jones.

It’s a very invasive piece of software. Here’s](http://jogin.com/weblog/archives/2004/02/29/real_obnoxious%22%3EHere%27s) a summary of some of the problems. But the biggest problem is this: There are so many other applications – many of which are truly free – which play back audio which don’t come with RealPlayer’s headaches, so why bother?
