Geoff Wooff D Full Set for Sale

Pity it couldn’t be of a similar colored wood as the original.

Joseph - that is a problem easily remedied : Just close your eyes and open your ears

The other solution is a big can of black spray paint for the rest of the set :swear:

Thanks PJ…Geoff’s thoughts also!! At the time of making, he had no totally seasoned boxwood to work with (a difficult medium anyway given its tendancy to bow in the early stages). I wanted a good working set…and I got a great result. The chanter blends beautifully with the drones/regs…I couldn’t ask for more… N

Thanks guys.

Just to clarify, Nick, are you including both the old and new chanters in the sale?

Just to be clear.. I’m selling the entire original boxwood set, including the original chanter, along with the newly made ebony replacement body…new reeds etc. The bellows that came with the set are also included..a self build by the previous owner and very sound. Also, a case/box to house the set. N

Geoff got her going nicely and the 20 years between chanters does show a big difference (my own new chanter is going very well indeed)

I’ve a bit of chit chat on video with Geoff, talking about playing this set at the WCSS, when it was brand new. Breandan Breathnach was listening, and asked…what is it? “Narrow bore concert pitch.” Breandan looked puzzled. “You know, the tone of a flat set, but in concert pitch.” Breandan was very pleased at this. “These other things, they’re Mini Warpipes!”

Any chance of YouTubing that video?

That’s a job for someone else, for a variety of reasons.

So someone scalloped the finger holes of the original chanter. Does Geoff never do scalloping?

Here’s the thread from the last time this set was sold:

It means you get to keep the original bore. They have similar procedures in the doughnut industry.

Looked at the old thread on this set, did it finally sell for 8.000 euros back then? I believe there is a three-quarter narrow bore D set made by Geoff somewhere in Sweden

The set has now been sold
