F/S Geoff Wooff 3/4 C set

Hello all,
with great sorrow I have finally decided to part with my Wooff C set, which have been rarely used. The details can be found on the NPU site, and if I’ve left anything out you may ask me questions here or send a PM.

Might just as well post the description here as well:

A splendid Geoff Wooff ¾ set in C, made for me in 1988 when Geoff was still living in Australia. It is stamped as no. 87 and the year right by the reed seat, and also with Geoff’s full name on several places. Ebony, hand rolled brass and imitation ivory. Its appearance is styled after the Kenna set shown on photo 30 in Baines’ book “The Story of the Bagpipe” - with a straight bass drone, fishtail-shape regulator keys, and a long bag neck with the wooden chanter head fitting straight into the bag without a connecting tube. The inward dimensions are taken from Geoff’s own Harrington set.
The chanter has a “C natural” (in reality Bb) key and a stopkey head. The stock is hollow, as is usual with all Geoff’s flat sets. The hand rolled brass tubes are slightly tapering on the drones. The treble drone is conveniently nestled inside the bass drone bend, which serves as a kind of protection from any bumps. The bellows are from a beautiful exotic hardwood of a marled tan colour.
It is in good condition, having seen very little use over the years – one reason, besides my financial situation, why I’ve now decided to part with it. There is a minor dent in the brass ring protecting the chanter end, and a few faint scratches to the wooden chanter head, barely noticeable. The set is reeded, but has not been played for a while, so will need some tweaking/voicing, especially if the buyer is in a different climate than here in Sweden!
Anyone familiar with Geoff Wooff’s work will be aware that this is as exquisite workmanship as you will ever find in a pipemaker. Last I heard, his order book is closed. I’m looking for 15500 Euro. The pipes are located in Stockholm, and the postage and insurance will be paid by the buyer. Contact me at chanter66@yahoo.se – I will consider reasonable offers.

So, apparently this set has finally sold … perhaps Stefan could confirm that ?

This notice has been on C&F for a whole month and this is the 500th viewing, so I thought to give it a bump.

Cheers,
Geoff.

That’s right, Geoff, I was just about to post an update but you beat me to it.
This set is indeed sold now. The buyer wishes to remain anonymous and the final selling price to be undisclosed, so please don’t ask!
