Gallagher 1/2 B set on ebay

Nice looking set! and big too.

I think it’s relative Brian.

When I first viewed that picture, I thought the pipes had been set on a bed.

Upon closer inspection, whatever it is is much smaller than a bed – possibly a small end-table with a blanket or mattress pad covering it.

Regardless, those pipes are just like my Gallagher set, without the regs; though they are a B set, which should only be slightly larger than a D set.

I see where you’re coming from Bri,

I was comparing them to a D set and to my hands, the B’s I’ve played have all felt pretty big! But then again, you must remember I’m easily beat up by girls too…

Message received.

Next time you’re over to our place, I’ll set you up on the boys side of the room.

I have heard that Seth’s flat sets are not really true narrow bore, especially his C chanters. I wonder about this B half set. Is it more of a medium bore ? or is it a true narrow bore flat set?

Wolvy- don’t do it  I’ve thought about this set since it hit eBay ( bad thing to do right now).

Fel, why did you post the link if you wanted the set for yourself? Hello??

Wolvy, I have a Gallagher B (and C) chanter… it’s a wonderful thing. I ordered it after hearing Kynch O’Kaine’s B full set. Forget the rumors. Let your ears be the judge.

Don’t worry, Fel. I certainly ain’t bidding on anything for a while. I am super happy with my K&Q half set. I have my hands (and brain) full for quite a while. Besides, I probably have to buy my daughter an iBook soon.

I was just wondering about Seth’s flat sets. Heck I didn’t think he built anything in B. See ya at the So. Calf. tionol.

Hey- maybe we can work something out, I have a 500 mhz TiBook ,

Hello all,

Seth’s flat sets are definately narrow bore. I had the chance to play his boxwood 3/4 set in C at the West Coast Tionól last February–it is definately in the flat set tradition and one of the nicest sets I’ve ever had the pleasure to play. (C’mon Fel, you know you want it :smiling_imp: )

Like I told Tom, it would be B…A…D if I brought home another set. But, if you have a room to let, maybe, just maybe… If my son would just hurry up and graduate from UCI ( he’s got 3 more to do so).

I played Chadd’s set that he brought to the July meeting and you’re right, I REALLY want one. Did you mention what’s happening in October??

Wolvy (and anyone else who’s curious about Seth’s flat sets) - I’ll have my Gallagher C set at the Southern California Tionol next month if you’d like to take it for a test drive.

I’ll take you up on that offer.

you simply have to perfect the “Honey, it followed me home/can we keep it” line. That or “I promise to do the dishes until the flesh on my hands falls off of the bone” angle.

How do you think I got such boney fingers? (see avatar at left)

I guess I got my impressions from talking to Seth directly when he told me that his C sets are not true narrow bores, but more like a medium bore. I guess what he meant by that was that they are not as narrow as the Woof type sets.

I recently got a chance to hear DM Quinn’s C set that he had at the Piper’s Gathering (now in the hands of Debbie Quigley). It is quite loud and a bit raccous - more like a concert set than a flat set. I don’t know if it is designed to be a medium bore, or if it is just the way the reeds are set up.

Is it this one (from Mr.Childress’s site)? Loud as a Concert Pitch set? I’m soon going to receive a 3/4 set from David Boisvert (I already received the wonderful drones) and want to know the volume of flat sets. I have never heard a flat set played before.

I emailed the seller a couple of questions. The first was whether a case is included. He sent me a return email without answering the question. I asked the same question again 2 days ago, along with a question regarding any extra reeds that might be included with the set, and have received no reply. Has anyone had any successful correspondence with this seller (joshuaperkins)? or know him personally?

Thanks.

This is funny, that is EXACTLY how I got my wife Laurie to agree to my purchase of a new chanter!
