Dear pipers,
The first one is an ebony concert pitch with boxwood mounts and brass. The chanter is ready to make the 5 keys later if somebody wants, so it’s explandable. The head is brass, Rowesome style. It’s impeccable, the reed need just a little air, and the tone is powerful and perfect. The back D is stable like a rock and the hard E is lovely as well. The price is 500 Euro + delivery
The second one is a boxwood chanter in D. The copy of Leo Rowsome’s. It’s not a perfect copy because the chanter is not curved but straight. A couple of decades and maybe it’ll bend just like that but I hope it won’t.
Obviously it’s brand new too and impeccable, the reed is similar. The chanter has a fantastic vibration on your hand (it’s tickling:-)) probably because of the boxwood. The price is the same, 500 Euro + delivery.

I had the chance to play these very chanters of Richard during a session a couple of weeks ago. The craftmanship of these chanters is perfect, just like Rogge’s. Both were very easy to play, perfectly in tune and the back D was powerful enough. Richard prefers to make soft/sweet sounding reeds. I tend to play harsher/louder D reeds, but this is another story. Richard started making Irish pipes about three years ago, and I have been watching his progress. I did not buy a chanter from him during this period, but by today (the first stage of) the learning process is over, and I am convinced that he makes excellent D chanters and sweet reeds. What’s more he is an excellent piper and musician as well. He makes pipes and performs music full time. Richard is terribly gifted musician and craftsman and he is absolutely determined to be a master pipe maker with the highest reputation.
I have owned so many chanters from reputable makers from all over the world (Ireland, UK, Canada, US, Germany) and I have some (good and bad) experience. If you are interested in some more details, send me a private message.
