FS: Tipple B-flat Flute

Just haven’t found the time to give it the attention it deserves. It’s a fine flute, though the finger spread is quite wide. I am asking $75 o.b.o. for the flute. I just want it to go somewhere it’ll get played. Anyone interested can get a hold of me at my email: uilleannpipemike@gmail.com

Flute comes with pouch, squeegy, and the head piece wedge.

Cheers,
Mike

I have a Tipple Bb PVC flute, and I’ll agree that the finger spread, especially between the 5th and 6th holes, is considerable.

Otherwise, it’s a great flute with a deeper, darker tone, and for what it is and what it does, the price is a bargain.

Good luck with the sale!

I stopped making these low Bb flutes so that I could focus my attention on the more easily played smaller flutes. Chris Cruickshank has a youtube video of him playing one of my Bb flutes.

If you’ve stopped making the big Bb flutes, Doug, then obviously there’s now only a limited number of them, which makes the existing ones more valuable.

And, mine is not for sale, thank you!

The flute is now sold! Thanks everyone!

I had originally ordered a Bb from Doug. I returned it for a Bnat, which seemed to better suit me. I still find the Bnat a stretch, and can only play it for a short duration before my hands start to cramp. I love the sound, and wish that my hands didn’t feel so stressed while playing.

I found the same difficulty with the Tipple Bb, cylindrical flute, especially the stretch between the 5th and 6th holes.

Doug Tipple once mentioned that he uses his 1st, 2nd and 4th RH fingers to get around the stretch issue.

The 1-2-4 technique is not a natural for me, but it does work, although YMMV.

Otherwise, it’s a great flute, especially for the money.
