FS: Skip Healy keyless blackwood d on ebay

hi, not the seller, just sharing information (and not trying to start a bidding war–this flute has been posted before, and no one bought it…)

there’s a skip healy flute on ebay:
Skip Healy EGR1 Irish Flute in the key of D
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290442519407&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1154

no keys, 3-piece made of blackwood. starting bid is $450, no one has bid on it yet with 2 days to go. seller says there’s a “varish crack” in the headjoint that doesn’t “affect playability.”

his website lists them new at $1250, so could be a great deal for someone… (i’d buy it, but i just bought a blackwood flute on ebay and i can’t afford another)

good luck!

A quick search on this forum doesn’t show much about Mr. Healy’s instruments. He’s fairly local to where I live. Anyone care to comment on their nature, quality, etc.? PM if that is more appropriate/comfortable.

Thanks and best wishes.

In the words of the late, lamented Emily Litella, “Never mind!”

Turns out I misspelled Healy in my search. Found a bunch of stuff with the correct spelling…

Best wishes.

What’s a varnish crack? Skip doesn’t varnish his flutes - it’s not an old mandolin! A surface crack, OTOH, is a crack. Perfectly fixable, but definitely lowers the value.

I sent a note to the seller asking what he/she meant by a “varnish crack”. Haven’t had a response as yet. Hopefully, if he/she does respond he/she will also post it on the sale site.

Best wishes.

Auction ended with no bids. Seller never responded to further define what was meant by “varnish crack”. My guess is that it will appear again at some point - perhaps with more explanation…

Best wishes.
