FS: Sam Murray keyless flute in blackwood.

Selling my Sam Murray flute in D. I’ve had this for a number of years, great flute! I bought it from Mr. Gumby, a member here from Ireland, who bought it from Sam in 2004. Excellent condition plays great. I like to change flutes ever so often just for fun. Asking $875, shipping $15 in a flat rate box USPS. Thanks, John.

Photos here. Hard to take good photos of a flute.

These may help. This was how it looked before it left here:

Lovely flute, I am not completely sure about the 2004, it may have been as late as 2006, I remember a concert I had it for (but decided to play the whistle instead). Anyway, I got it new from Sam, collected it from his workshop and never regretted it. The flute was meant for playing out but I just didn’t like my own fluteplaying well enough.

Thanks, much better photos than mine! J.

Speaking of your photos, what’s up with the tenons? Have they been overwrapped with something? I don’t see any shoulder.

I have the same Sam Murray model I bought last year. It’s simply divine. I could never part with it.

By the way, the CITES restrictions on Blackwood for instruments have been repealed and after mid November you can send anywhere in the world. Good news a long time coming for flutists.

There are tenon shoulders, just not a very good photo. I shows them better in the B/W photos, J.

Is the head lined, unlined, partially lined?

Thanks and best wishes.

Steve

It’s unlined.
