FS: Professional Level Dizi Flute - Key of Bb - SOLD

Years of computer work have taken their toll on my hands, and it seems like the only flute I can play now is a Boehm with curved headjoint and Bopeps. I bought a beautiful Dizi flute recently but unfortunately it hurts to play it. Paid $78 plus $10 shipping, will sell for $50 including shipping to continental U.S. Comes with membranes, or you can just tape over the membrane hole for a regular bamboo flute. The key is Bb, meaning the lowest note is F above middle C. It is two piece and tunable. I’ll also throw in a student level Dizi in high D for free. Both have velour bags.

I don’t have a photo but it looks just like the eBay ad:

I bought the Bb bamboo dizi flute, and it is a dandy. These flutes are named for the 4th note in the scale, so a Bb dizi is equivalent to an F Irish flute (F, G, A, Bb, C, D, E, F). I haven’t had the time to secure the dizi membrane yet, but with the dizi hole covered with tape, the flute plays as well as other famous-name bamboo Irish flutes that I have played. The flute is made from quality bamboo and is beautifully engraved and meticulously finished inside and out. I think that they are a steal at the ebay price.

Great to hear you’r enjoying it.

Carrotmusic have a reputation for sending out items which are not as shown in their images, so that’s a relief to hear you got what was advertised. They are more of a volume producer, sourcing most of their dizi flutes from a commercial Hangzhou flute maker however they also stock some of the higher grade elite dizi flute maker brands, but those cost about three times the cost of these average ones.

The dizi membrane gives the dizi its characteristic aural flavour - strangely I find the heavier Boehm alto flute more comfortable to hold - for some reason I tend to press hard against the bamboo. Need to relax a little…
