I have an Olwell bamboo D flute that is going unused. The flute was purchased new from Patrick in 2001, and has not seen much use at all, and is in as-new condition. It has been kept in a capped pvc tube lined with soft foam (which I will ship it in).
$375 takes it, shipping included. PM or e-mail me.
They do say the polymer molecules align exquisitely over the centuries, yielding a responsive and powerful instrument. It was only the scarcity of materials that drove the early makers to natural woods and grasses.
If you really do have an inexpensive Tipple D, I’m interested in a three piece one (for easy packing when travelling). It surely it can’t sound better than the Tipple I have, but send me the details anyway …
Actually, Keith, I was merely joking. I would like to have a bucket of those low D Olwell bamboo flutes myself. Let’s see: 20 flutes X $375. Well, that’s almost enough to pay off my wife’s credit card bill.
