I’m reluctantly offering my MK whistle for sale because I need to raise some money. It was either my MK or my Golin Goldie Overton and I’m going to keep the Overton. The whistle was made about a year ago by Misha Sommerville and it is made of red anodized aluminum with a brass tuning slide. It is in excellent condition. Pictures of the same model can be seen at Misha’s website www.jazzwhistle.com. The whistle is very easy to play with good backpressure (similar backpressure to a Bernard Overton Overton). It produces a strong tone with an especially strong bell note. These whistles are not offered for second hand sale very often, in fact I can’t recall another being offered for sale on the board. I believe that reflects the quality of the product. If you enjoy aluminium whistles with a big tone then you’ll appreciate this. The whistle comes with its original padded bag. I believe that Misha sells these whistles for £150 new, so I’m looking for £100 for this one. I want to restrict the sale to UK and EU members only because I’ve had some problems posting whistles to the US before. Please send me a PM if you are interested.
This is really one for the collection,I can’t believe your selling it.
phil.
Yes, Phil, I’m letting it go with regret. But I need some cash and I just can’t justify having two quality low Ds. It’s certainly an easier player than the Overton with a distinctive, husky kind of tone. The Goldie Overton has greater backpressure which I like. But really it has been hard to choose between them and in an ideal world I wouldn’t be selling it.
Personally, I would go with the MK Whistle man.
The whistle has been sold. Thanks to all who expressed an interest in it.
