I really do not want to sell this gaita but I am not in the financial position to keep it, so here goes. Up for grabs is a really nice gaita by Anton Varela, if memory serves me correct he made it in 2006. It is in granadillo, with silver mounts, and 3 drones. It’s in the key of G which is a fantastic key for gaita, it sounds a lot like the many of the cornamuse in G that you would find in France. The punteiro is open fingering and on a good day you can get a few notes above the octave, this is typical for a low pitched instrument. It’s in really great condition, and has an everlasting gortex bag. I am including a really nice aluminium rifle case and a few extra reeds with it. The asking is price is a very fair $1,700, I know they’d cost quite a bit more new since Anton raised his prices, and the failing u.s. dollar. Anton is a very respectable luthier, I was very lucky to get my first gaita in Do from him, still playing it to this day.
