High D water weasel with plumbing code (it’s the one pictured on the C&F site-that’s why it’s famous). Nice whistle, looks about the same, as I have only played it a few times.
$200

Currently my favorite D whistle. I WON’T be selling mine!
Weren’t these going for $65 or so originally?
Why? Are you selling one for that much? ![]()
That’s about right. This asking price is pretty, I dunno, infamous.
Couldn’t resist the play. At the risk of inviting the usual ranting bickering threads, at least the buyers on this Board should know what the last general selling price of these whistles was. These Water Weasels were and continue to be known for their great value - made by Glenn with some of the characteristics of his unmatchable Thin Weasels, albeit from plumbing PVC rather than fine woods, at more affordable costs.

It’s true, a $200 asking price is quite a bit more than I paid for it, but that’s what it’s worth to me (and probably what I’ll get for it in a few years on EBAY if someone does not buy it here). It is one of the early ones, I don’t even remember how old it is, but I emailed Dale the picture in the early day’s of the fourm. These things are collectable and worth more than they cost. Funny, no one told me I was asking too much for a set of O"Riordans which I sold for a couple of times their original price a few years ago. Anyway, I’ll either get a good price for it or give everyone a good laugh.
I just want you to know I can see through your masks.
No masks, I am not a frequent poster because I am a better collector than player, but I have sold a number of whistles here (including I think a Copeland or was it a Harper to PhilO?a Sindt to Bloomberg,a Copeland to Jessie K, and O’Riordians, Overtons, Burks to many others) My first screen name was bBorg(I forgot the pw to that one and came up with my current one) but I have been around since the beginning of this forum .

I think that quote is just his tag line in his signature, not a comment on your personage. ![]()
I love my WW, BTW, but I would not pay that much for it, even so.
Yes, that quote is by Bob Dylan, and it appears at the bottom of all my posts. Not directed at anyone in particular. ![]()
Sorry for any confusion!
I was just curious, obviously if the going rate has gone that high, this speaks highly for Glen’s work.
The going rate for Glenn’s whistles has been variable.
One wooden one went on Ebay a couple months ago for $790.
More often, though, they’ve been selling for around the $300 range. I’m not sure what made that one whistle go for more.
Glens whistles are excellent, and they have appreciated in value due to his untimely death. They are wonderful and well worth having, but I don’t know that the 750 for the wooden one or 200 for the PVC is realistic at all. I guess only time will tell.
If I know Glenn, he’s looking down on this and saying “Shite, it’s just a bit of fookin’ plastic pipe! Arrrr…”
Still, ask what you will for it-- if you get it, good for you.
Well put, all the way round, Paul. ![]()

Hmmm … history tends to record the worlds regard for the artist rather than the artist’s regard for themselves.
Still, a pinch of cynisism never ruined a good story.
