Hello,
About 10 years ago I bought a cocuswood Blackman flute from a friend who said it used to belong to Seamus Tansey.
I just fell in love with it because of the sweet sound. Not sure about all the stories that but definite certainties are:
Fintan Vallely tried it 8 years ago and said it wasn’t too bad, but it needs a good player.
The flute is a cocuswood Blackman flute from around 1882 and except for the head all parts are stamped with Blackman stamp.
Repairs while in my posession: One joint (head-body) almost invisibly repaired and one key, by flute maker Tom Aebi, Basel.
He remarked that the head might not be original.
Fintan Vallely tried it 8 years ago and set it wasnt too bad but it needs a good player.
Embouchure is small and easy to blow.
Sound is very sweet and has 6 working keys. Not very in tune but a good player will fall in love with it.
I’m selling it because I now play a great flute by pipes/flutemaker Evertjan 't Hart.
It needs a bit of love and a good home with someone who’ll appreciate it more.
Make a decent offer and she’s yours.
