this is a re-post, the flute was sold pending funds, never happened,
so I am open to any sensible offers, pics can be e-mailed to any interested chiffers, previous post details below
I am selling a beautiful Wilkes Blackwood and Silver flute, 5 sections, fully lined head
and tuning barrel, large hole model, craftmanship and sound are superb as you would expect,
I have just had an 8 keyed Rudall and Rose original fully restored, at quite a cost, it was worth it though, so I need to reel in some money to offset the cost, I will be sad to see the Wilkes go as it’s by far the best flute I have owned/played, I play quite a lot of non trad, ( boehm ) was my main instrument, the original R&R covers a lot of what I play now with the 8 keys.
Chris Wilkes new price is closer to £1000 and not the price stated on his website, regarding price, make me an offer, this is a great flute and your welcome to come and play it and more importantly there is no waiting time, PM or e-mail, I can give you my mobile or landline if you would like to discuss, not sure about worldwide sales, of course Europe and Uk, USA and beyond could be very expensive from experience, as a dedicated courier would be needed, UPS/FEDEX etc, and I’m sure the insurance with these guys is crazy high
I have had some enquiries from outside Europe, mainly USA, so below is the best price I can find, I have not excluded worldwide shipping,
but I remember sending a few flutes to the USA a few years back was pricey.
Royalmail global priority to the USA insured for £1000 and tracked is £89
Parcelforce global express to the USA insured for £1000 and tracked is £85
Lefty, re: postal insurance, read the small print. Musical instruments are a specific exclusion in both Royal Mail and Parcel Force terms and conditions. Buying their insurance for the value of the flute would be an utter waste of money. The same is true, I know from experience, with most other carriers (all of whom are more expensive for the basic parcel). The only viable way to insure an instrument in postal transit from GB abroad is via a special extension to your or the purchaser’s instrument insurance, however you/they manage that. Some policies may include such cover, but best to contact your insurers. A couple of years back I had cause to investigate this thoroughly. In the end, once discovered, it was easy enough and way cheaper to insure via British Reserve for a transit period and post (tracked and signed for) via Royal Mail.
These are very good instruments. I have mine out just now which I paid 1700 USD for (1120 GBP) for, worth every penny, wide silver, rose machined rings, very responsive
