might be passing through New York this summer to stop by for a whistle,
flute or uilleann pipes lesson. My regular group classes are on summer
break, so I have some openings for private sessions.

I took Mr. Ochs up on his offer when I was on vacation last week in Boston. My sister and I went to NYC for the day, and the very reasonably-priced lesson was the best money I spent all week. And I spent a lot.
In 45 minutes, Mr. Ochs was able to guide my playing in new directions; he provided me with 3 new tunes and the sheet music to go with them; and he had a tape recorder set up for me to record the lesson with a cassette I brought along. He demonstrated the individual techniques of three famous players, and I played several kinds of tunes for him. He made me feel good about my playing and gave great suggestions at the same time. And it was a wonderful walk from hectic Times Square to his peaceful neighborhood a few blocks away.
