I recently ran across www.audiosparx.com
they offer tunes for listening in hopes of licencing out the performances
whistles used on a number of the tunes and also great to play along with
-free sign up as a “Visitor” allows you to play all the tunes & songs
-they do give a No Spam No Commerical sale promise for what its worth
-real playing by real musicians on real instruments (one of the commonly named fiddlers is Kiernan Fahy, wonder if it can be traced to the Fahy’s tunes)
-full songs & full sets, not snippets or teasers
-Use the Search function to request “Ireland and Irish”, you’ll get back a list of a batch of trad tunes among other assorted flotsam & jetsam
some examples: Butterfly, McHughs, Breton Tunes, Humours of Ennistymon, Monaghan Jig, Gravel Walk, Coleraine’s Jig, Cooley’s Reel
-Personal favorite: the Set O’Dowds/Master Crowley’s/Dogs Among the Bushes/Tie the Bonnet
If you Search for “Quebec”, you’ll get some Irish influenced Quebec trad music such as possibly this one “Reel Des 5 Jumelles Dionnes”, commonly known as the Dionne Reel (has 5 parts I think because it recalls the famous Dionne quintuplets)
Hope somebody enjoys this as much as I have.
