Was in a Pawn shop the other day and they had a flute in without the head piece. I asked them about it and they said the head piece had been damaged beyond repair. This, got me to wondering if a whistle head piece could be attached and if so would it work. Price was very cheap and I understand about the pads and etc.
Anyone tried this yet?
Thanks,
Jim
yes jim
You can calculate a “whistle” headjoint by subtracting the length of the body from the full length. Use Pete Kosels “Flutomat”
http://www.cwo.com/~ph_kosel/flutomat.html
There is a whistle maker who sells a head joint that converts a standard flute to a whistle, but unfortunately I can’t remember which one. But if you browse the various makers, you may find it.
Jubilee fits boehm flutes with whistle heads, but I’m gonna have to wait until I get my practice whistle before I can recommend them.
