Can anyone tell me about flute attachments for penny whistles. A lady was telling me that I should be able to get one if I buy a Dixon whistle. I was wondering if anyone could explain this to me. I presume it would be like playing a flute (blowing across the hole in the mouthpiece) instead of blowing into a mouth piece like a normal penny whistle. Would this then, resemble something like a piccolo? Sorry for any incorrect spellings. Got to rush off to work.

Yeah, it’s just a head that turns the whistle into a piccolo. I don’t have any other piccolo to compare it with, but I think it’s fairly playable.
Can’t say how playable the high-D head is, but I have the Dixon Low D Duo (both whistle and flute heads). The Low D’s quite playable, but if you get at all serious you’ll want to upgrade to a conical-bore flute fairly soon (I’ve got the urge already, but I’m holding off as long as I can).
The Low-D Duo is actually a bit more challenging to play than many “real” flutes - I’ve been able to get better sound, and easier, from every conical-bore flute I’ve tried (Hammy, CB Folk, and ?Copley?). But it’s a very inexpensive way to find out if you want to take that next step.
If I wasn’t putting most of my spare cash towards a flute upgrade, I’d be very tempted by the Sweet Pro Whistle/Fife combo. A very nice whistle (and, from what I understand, a nice conical-bore D fife).
I must say that when I saw the title of the post, it kind of reminds me of attachments for a vacuum cleaner. 
Some maker do offer Flute headjoints that are compatible with the whistle headjoints of the same series.
The important question regard Flute headjoints is how they handle the upper and lower octave pitch. A straight body with a straight headjoint will cause flatness in the second octave. A tapered body or a tapered headjoint, sander spikes, wedges – there are all kinds of methods to correct this. So the headjoint needs to more than just fit the body in order to play in tune correctly.
Walt Sweet makes a whistle which can also be ordered with an interchangeable piccolo head. No pun intended, it’s a really sweet combo. Gonna get me one one of these days.
