flute lessons on dvd?

Does anyone know of any dvd flute lessons for beginners? keyless preferred…

The madfortrad tutorial by Seamus Egan has gotten some good comments here and there. Not a DVD, but a multimedia CD with video and other stuff.

The Seamus Egan is nice, but it depends on how much of a beginner you are. If you are really just getting starting learning how to get a sound out of the instrument, etc., then nothing can replace a couple of face to face lessons with someone who is not only a good player but has some experience teaching.

That said, once you have some minimal grasp on those fundamentals, then the Egan is a fun resource for learning about ornamentation, and for learning some tunes.

This tutorial has it all, it even teaches you how to learn sheet music. There’s videos, exercises on ornamentations, mp3 files, the whole bunch.
The digital version is very cheap and the book is on it too in digital format.
If you want the book separate, you’ll have to pay extra.

I clicked on the book image and got taken to a site that linked to some amateur stuff. I couldn’t then close the tab and had to exit Firefox in order to move on. I’ve be very wary of following anything in this post. Not to blame lixnaw, but it seem as as if something is going on with the link.

Thanks, Julia, I appreciate the heads-up. But it works fine for me in Firefox. I just get a (very large) jpg image. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Sorry about the spam, i edited my last post and used image shack instead of image avenue.
There are samples on your man’s website about his tutorial.
If you check out the link below, there’s a free tune on DVD where he plays flute.

If this is still too fast, you could use amazing slowdowner http://www.ronimusic.com/
It’s very easy to slow down mp3 files on the DVD.

MTGuru: thank you for the suggested CD Rom. I’ve been trying to find a teacher in Salt Lake City and you would think that woudn’t be difficult; however, I’m finding it a challange at present. I placed an order just a few minutes ago for Mad For Trad and upon its arrival in 8 or so working days and giving it a quick review, I will let you know what I think of it. This is a great website and I have so much appreciated the comments and help I’ve received in the past- a warm thanks to all of you out there that contribute from time to time. Several of the Forums that I’ve used in the past have really been of considerable benefit and have saved me a lot of mistakes in terms of time and money. Don.

Hi, do you know what the 45 tunes are? I can’t seem to find a list of them on his site. I looked the PDF and I don’t think there are 45 tunes on that.

Lessons are really helpful at the beginning, but my own experience is that one or two lessons go quite a long way.
Most time is spent in the woodshed. As there isn’t really a source of lessons where I live,
I am definitely willing to travel elsewhere for the occasional lesson. It actually makes sense.
Then the occasional workshop.

This book’s a good starter, but it won’t point out your mistakes, things you need to work on. Sorry, i only had a look at the book. I can read music and know where i need ornamentation. There’s a lot of beginners tunes in it, i also spotted ‘farewell to erin’, by no means a beginners tune though.

Here’s a sample form the website:
